The boxing gym that's 'punching out Parkinson's disease'

JULY 12, 2024: The Fit 4 Boxing Club offers classes for people of all ages and abilities, but they specialize in non-contact boxing classes for people with Parkinson’s disease, a neurodegenerative disorder that affects muscle movement, coordination, and balance among other things. Boxing can help treat Parkinson’s because the sport requires hand-to-eye coordination; it gets the mind to reconnect to the muscles. In the 10 years that the boxing club has been active, they have had over 1,000 fighters with Parkinson’s come through their doors. While many of these boxers come to treat their symptoms, they stay for the strong and supportive community that has been created there.
